Congress sold us out on FISA, and guess where the money came from?

Outrageous, unconstitutional and un-American, said Anthony Romero, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union, referring to the FISA Amendments Act of 2008.

Without a moment’s delay, where Congress has failed, the ACLU has taken the lead, mobilizing its forces to challenge the legality of the amended Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in a Court of Law.

Within hours of Congress approving FISA, thousands upon thousands of our fellow citizens said NO! to warrantless government wiretapping, and the break-down of our rule of Law. As Mr. Romero put it, the bill Congress passed and George Bush signed into law “codifies a Nixonian view on executive power that states, ‘if a president does it, it is not illegal.’”

There has never been a more important moment to demonstrate to our leaders that we believe in freedom - not fear. It’s up to each of us to defend the Constitution. Please support the ACLU in the FIGHT AGAINST FISA.

The bottom line is that no President should have the power to monitor the private communications of Americans without a warrant. And no president should have the power to pardon companies that broke the law.
