FISA Vote on Retroactive Immunity
Action Alert
Congress is scheduled to vote on an amendment to
H.R. 6304: The FISA Amendments Act of 2008
The proposed amendment, introduced by Senator Christopher Dodd of Connecticut. The amendment has nine co-sponsors including Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, and will strip from the FISA bill all provisions for retroactive immunity from prosecution of the Law.
My Representative in Washington has indicated he supports the amendment put forward by Dodd and will vote YES to approve the Dodd-Feingold amendment.
Presidential candidate, Barack Obama has also affirmed his support of the proposed changes in language which strips retroactive immunity from The FISA Amendments Act of 2008. Senator Obama has confirmed he will be to be in D.C. tomorrow, but would not say if he will be present to cast his vote on the hill. However, We the People can make OUR voice heard.

If all men are equal under the law, then the same law MUST APPLY to the President, his Administration, his appointees, and privately contracted firms.
Furthermore, the Constitution clearly prohibits enacting new law to cure a violation of existing Law.
If Senator Dodd’s proposed amendment fails, and the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 is passed as-is, it will create two class of people;
those government officials, corporations, and individuals who will enjoy amnesty from prosecution of the laws, which no longer apply to them, and
the remaining people among us who would be stripped of legal recourse and remedy and with no means to mitigate or arbitrate damages.
Obviously, this would be unacceptable in a land where
All men are created equal
Don’t let them legislate away our Constitution.
